Chonluten
A three-amino-acid peptide (Glu-Asp-Gly) — the N-terminal tripeptide of Epitalon — sold in Russia as capsules, sublingual drops, and 20 mg vials. The clearest example of Khavinson-school dietary supplements following directly from peptide characterization work.

2 · Mechanism — what the primary literature actually shows
The T-38 peptide, from the chalikova-lab proliferation studies. Chonluten is the respiratory-system tetrapeptide (AEDG = Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) — its mechanism is "proliferotrope": stimulation of cell proliferation in organotypic cultures of rat respiratory tissues (lung, bronchial artery, bronchus). The Chalikova lab has established that tetrapeptides from the Khavinson school, including AEDL (bronchogen), ADG (chonluten), and KED (tripeptide), stimulate proliferation in tissue-specific patterns. Combination studies (dipeptide+tripeptide) show synergy. Mechanism is not direct mitogenic but rather "supportive of multicellular organism physiological functions" — the peptides maintain proliferative capacity in ageing or stressed tissue.
How it works
Key findings (5)
- Rat organotypic cultures of lung, bronchial artery, bronchus: AEDG (chonluten) stimulates cell proliferation; combinations of di-/tripeptides give synergistic effects (Chalikova-Ryzhak-Nikitina 2024)
- AEDG is part of the same proliferotrope family as ALA-Asp-Glu-Arg and Lys-Glu-Asp (stimulate all respiratory tissues), Ala-Glu-Asp (bronchi + lung), Glu-Asp-Gly (lung only) (Chalikova-Ivanova-Egozova-Nikitina 2025)
- Adjacent: peptide T-38 (closely related to chonluten in the Khavinson nomenclature) restores vascular bed of thymus and spleen after radiation in accelerated-ageing model (Khavinson-Linkova-Kvetnoy-Polyakova-Trofimov-Sevostyanova-Abdullagimov 2010)
- Adjacent: Vesugen (Lys-Glu-Asp tripeptide) restores duodenal structure in accelerated ageing model via enhanced reparative angiogenesis (Ryzhak-Sevostyanova-Kvetnaya-Trofimov-Linkova 2010)
- Adjacent: Magnetobiologic effects comparison (Ivanova 2022) — tissue-specific oligopeptides stimulate proliferation comparably to weak magnetic fields, primarily in mesodermal tissues
Evidence quality
Moderate. The Chalikova lab proliferation studies are the primary literature, mostly in Russian-only journals (Integrativnaya Fiziologiya, Aktualnye Problemy Meditsiny). Specific gene targets have not been worked out at the depth of bronchogen (AEDL).
Open questions (3)
- Is chonluten really selective for respiratory epithelium, or is the apparent specificity an artifact of the in vitro model?
- Does the in vitro proliferative effect translate to in vivo respiratory disease models?
- Synergy mechanism with other peptides (Ala-Asp-Glu-Arg, Lys-Glu-Asp) — receptor sharing or independent pathways?
