What the corpus says

A four-amino-acid peptide (Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly) sold in Russia as a hepatoprotective. Thin PubMed footprint; the CyberLeninka record is the deeper source.

Mechanism

Synthetic tetrapeptide KEDG (Lys-Glu-Asp-Gly). Not a bovine-liver extract. The mechanism claim is liver-tissue-specific regenerative. but no DIRECT studies on Livagen® product were found in the CyberLeninka audit. Most adjacent literature covers hepatocyte circahourly protein metabolism rhythms (Feldman 2011), immune regulation, infectious immunology, elderly ophthalmology care. The Khavinson-school liver peptide concept is real but lacks dedicated primary literature. This is a research gap, not a confirmed null finding.

Key findings
  1. Adjacent: circahourly protein metabolism rhythms in hepatocytes (Feldman-Rozhkova 2011)
  2. Adjacent: immune regulation, infectious immunology (textbook references 2001, 2003)
  3. Adjacent: Roncoleukin + colostral immunity in newborn calves. bovine peptide bioregulation paradigm (Russian agricultural literature)
  4. Adjacent: Drosophila peptide study (Mylnikov 2008). genotype × peptide interaction in longevity
  5. No DIRECT Livagen® product studies identified in CyberLeninka audit
Evidence quality

grade: Very low. No direct primary literature. The compound exists in the Khavinson peptide family but is under-researched.

Open questions
  • Is there any dedicated pharmacology for Livagen® as a drug?
  • Liver-tissue-specific regeneration. what would be the analogous model to prostatilen/prostate?
  • Comparison with hepatoprotectors (e.g. ademethionine, UDCA). has this been done?
